The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lionel-Andrés Newell in the 4th minute of play forced Chuscha FC - Ψ -'s goalkeeper Cirilo Demario to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Teobaldo Osoitz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Diaz having to interfere. In the 13th minute Lionel-Andrés Newell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cirilo Demario saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chuscha FC - Ψ -'s Cirilo Demario played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lionel-Andrés Newell in the 15th minute of play. After 18 played minutes Chuscha FC - Ψ - got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Lugo. Cirilo Demario took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eneto Barrachina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lionel-Andrés Newell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cirilo Demario having to interfere. Roman Diaz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santos Goito in the 28th minute of play. In the 30th minute Teobaldo Osoitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Diaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chuscha FC - Ψ -'s goalkeeper Cirilo Demario, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cirilo Demario showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lionel-Andrés Newell, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Lionel-Andrés Newell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

53 minutes into the match, Universitario's goal looked a bit too open when Teobaldo Osoitz came free, but Roman Diaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chuscha FC - Ψ -'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Carlos Zambrano ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Carlos Zambrano almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Chuscha FC - Ψ -'s Cirilo Demario did a great save. Lionel-Andrés Newell blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cirilo Demario having to make a save.
