Carhue's Angel Xacintu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto Cordario in the 8th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Cordario in the 9th minute of play forced Carhue's goalkeeper Angel Xacintu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10th minute Velez Sarsfield were awarded a corner. Ronan Mistral went to the cornerflag to take it. Javier Pinola was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Augusto Cordario sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 19th minute Augusto Cordario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angel Xacintu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Angel Xacintu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Cordario, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. With a little luck, Velez Sarsfield's Teodosio Sergi got control of the ball when Justo Egoitz tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 25th minute, Augusto Cordario made a precise shot to the right of Angel Xacintu. Carhue's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Augusto Cordario had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Angel Xacintu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nereo Artaldo in the 35th minute of the match. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Angel Xacintu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Carhue getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Igor Lluc hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
Carhue's Moreno Torricelli was substituted for Leon Kaxen. The wind increased when Nereo Artaldo made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Augusto Cordario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angel Xacintu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Carhue's Brent-Jan Kindermans sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Teodosio Sergi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 76th minute of the match Velez Sarsfield got a corner. Carhue's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Filomeno Montrell ran over to the corner to take the kick. 79 minutes had been played when some careless play by Velez Sarsfield's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Justo Egoitz was slow to take the kick. During this time Carhue's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Carhue's Justo Egoitz to fire away a dangerous shot which Teodosio Sergi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Charles De Ketelaere took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Teodosio Sergi. Teodosio Sergi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Igor Lluc made in the 88th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Anibal Diaz however managed to control. Tomas Ourente was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 91 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Carhue's Tomas Ourente got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After 96 minutes of play, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Angel Xacintu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Velez Sarsfield's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
