With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alan Tavares in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roman Diaz saved Universitario from getting behind. Lionel-Andrés Newell came free with the goalkeeper in the 15th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Karl-Erik Hellström could save by the left post. 17 minutes into the game, Batiste Carrez threw the ball into play from the sideline. Universitario's Euloxu Rojas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Dany-Adams De Scheper scored 0-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roman Diaz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Roman Diaz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogelio Lynch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roman Diaz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Lynch in the 34th minute of the match. Euloxu Rojas kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After 36 played minutes, Internazionale-RS's Wang Ting Hong shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Roman Diaz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Internazionale-RS reached it. 42 minutes into the match, Internazionale-RS's goal looked a bit too open when Lionel-Andrés Newell came free, but Karl-Erik Hellström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Douglas de Mendonça charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Douglas de Mendonça the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd match minute, Universitario was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Douglas de Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Internazionale-RS booed when Universitario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Zambrano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Lionel-Andrés Newell made the kick off in the second half. Roman Diaz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alan Tavares, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Internazionale-RS's goalkeeper Karl-Erik Hellström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 66 minutes into the match, Universitario's goalkeeper Roman Diaz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rogelio Lynch. After 68 played minutes Internazionale-RS got a freekick which was hit by Jorge-Luis Pereira. Internazionale-RS made a substitution. Moisés Cordeiro replaced Jorge-Luis Pereira. Universitario's Salvador Montrell was substituted for Aquilino Masdeu. In the 70th match minute, Internazionale-RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge-Luis Pereira to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lionel-Andrés Newell in the 71st minute of play forced Internazionale-RS's goalkeeper Karl-Erik Hellström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roman Diaz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Augusto Alves in the 79th minute of play. With a little luck, Universitario's Roman Diaz got control of the ball when Rogelio Lynch tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Internazionale-RS's zone, Lionel-Andrés Newell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl-Erik Hellström came out of the goal and Lionel-Andrés Newell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Branislav Vitev kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 88th minute of the match Wang Ting Hong shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roman Diaz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Roman Diaz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rogelio Lynch in the 90th minute. Karl-Erik Hellström came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Universitario's Lionel-Andrés Newell. But to his dismay, Lionel-Andrés Newell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1.
