The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. SC Braga's Laçın Cumayev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severino Estevez in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Luboš Štencl hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdomiro Lira in the 17th minute of play forced Les Tigres's goalkeeper Gonzo Maradona to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gonzo Maradona came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Braga's Valdomiro Lira. But to his dismay, Valdomiro Lira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Gonzo Maradona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 21st minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Les Tigres's goal looked a bit too open when Zigmantas Gimbutas came free, but Gonzo Maradona reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by Les Tigres's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Benjamin de Lara was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Braga's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Benjamin de Lara got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gonzo Maradona quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edvard Võsandi in the 30th minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Laçın Cumayev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the SC Braga defense, Edvard Võsandi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Laçın Cumayev. The SC Braga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Laçın Cumayev should have stopped the shot. A sloppy throw-in by Alberto Malheiro in the 35th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Les Tigres's Serafino Pestaña. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edvard Võsandi in the 39th minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Laçın Cumayev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 40 played minutes SC Braga got a freekick which was hit by Benjamin de Lara. The Les Tigres players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SC Braga were winning 1-2.

In the 52nd minute Venancio Prejun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laçın Cumayev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But to his dismay, Edvard Võsandi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. SC Braga's Geraldo Lucas was substituted for André Jordão. SC Braga made a substitution. Stig-Åke Mattsson replaced Zigmantas Gimbutas. Laçın Cumayev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Venancio Prejun in the 75th minute of play. Gonzo Maradona showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stig-Åke Mattsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. 84 minutes into the match, Severino Estevez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Laçın Cumayev. SC Braga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Severino Estevez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Venancio Prejun in the 88th minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Laçın Cumayev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Venancio Prejun's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Laçın Cumayev read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. In the 93rd minute of the match, Stig-Åke Mattsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gonzo Maradona saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, SC Braga's Valdomiro Lira got a free kick in the 95th minute. There was no doubt that Les Tigres were the better team. Les Tigres's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
