In the 15th minute Aðalsteinn Esbjærg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petr Čech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Floyd Tugade in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Petr Čech prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Petr Čech stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aðalsteinn Esbjærg's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. The supporters of Iceland booed when Philippines was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romel Limbo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Philippines's Armand Quison got control of the ball when Hólmfastur Óskarsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Floyd Tugade came free, but Petr Čech reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aðalsteinn Esbjærg to strike the kick off in the second half. Philippines's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aðalsteinn Esbjærg in the 52nd minute. Armand Quison showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Snæþór Þorbergsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Floyd Tugade could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Petr Čech made a huge save. Armand Quison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Össur Ármannsson in the 60th minute of the match. Floyd Tugade's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 61stth minute, Petr Čech skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With a little luck, Iceland's Petr Čech got control of the ball when Floyd Tugade tried to sneak it across the goal line. Petr Čech was a little too slow when Aðalsteinn Esbjærg got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 3-1. After 76 played minutes Philippines got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Golez. Philippines's Armand Quison played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Snæþór Þorbergsson in the 80th minute of play. In the 81st minute, Mats Caballero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute, Philippines's Mats Caballero ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Petr Čech. Petr Čech yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-2. After some careless play in the Philippines defense, Össur Ármannsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Armand Quison. The Philippines fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Armand Quison should have stopped the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Iceland fully deserved thier win.
