Jardel Sanches stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfonso Goicoechea's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Pankracy Glogowski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pipis Karapatakis in the 16th minute. Jardel Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfonso Goicoechea in the 20th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Grêmio FBPA's Pipis Karapatakis dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. 26 minutes into the game, Remigio Erramu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pipis Karapatakis was the one to do the kick off. Emil Chwalkiewicz made in the 52nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Anselmo Nevada immediately put the ball in play. With a little luck, Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches got control of the ball when Alfonso Goicoechea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Club Atlético Atlanta's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
