The audience was convinced that Doriva Pombal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alto Mondragon was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elias Topcu made a kick off. After some careless play in the Motala AIF defense, Zé da Fonseca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alto Mondragon. The Motala AIF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alto Mondragon should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doriva Pombal in the 55th minute of play forced Motala AIF's goalkeeper Alto Mondragon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marian Kapinos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alto Mondragon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play.
