Tiburcio Lejalde went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Vassilis Papadaskalopoulos managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ma Tian got free with Gabriel Arias in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gabriel Arias made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ma Tian in the 28th minute. Ma Tian's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gabriel Arias read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. The JULM C.F. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
