Óscar Cordoba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dionisio Panpili in the 12th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Marlin FC's goal looked a bit too open when Venancio Emesto came free, but Juan Carlos Alvarez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba got control of the ball when Linus Fredriksson tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22ndth minute of the game Matias Bilintx who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Marlin FC's Juan Carlos Alvarez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Juan Carlos Alvarez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Venancio Emesto in the 24th minute of the match. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ismael Iglesias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 27 minutes, Matias Bilintx managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting de Gijón's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matias Bilintx was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fermin Arixo in the 29th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fermin Arixo got free with Óscar Cordoba in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Juan Carlos Alvarez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giovanni Rana in the 44th minute of play. Juan Carlos Alvarez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Maradona in the 45th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Matias Bilintx stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Matias Bilintx spun around in front of the goal 53 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Marlin FC's goal. Juan Carlos Alvarez made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Saturnino Curcio sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Linus Fredriksson in the 57th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 59th minute of the game, Fermin Arixo landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. In the 61st minute, Rune Fanström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juan Carlos Alvarez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute, Eustacio Loiola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the match, Marlin FC's goalkeeper Juan Carlos Alvarez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wayne Rooney. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Linus Fredriksson in the 70th minute of play. Matias Bilintx could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Juan Carlos Alvarez made a huge save. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Marlin FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Santiago Cachorro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matias Bilintx could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Juan Carlos Alvarez made a huge save. Marlin FC's Juan Carlos Alvarez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Marlin FC from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Marlin FC's Fernando Ciano got a free kick in the 92nd minute. In the 95th minute of the match Ismael Iglesias sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Óscar Cordoba skillfully saved the ball. Marlin FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Sporting de Gijón for a fine match.
