A well-hit corner resulted in Bernardo Franco heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Alto Moco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matias Bilintx in the 38th minute. After having played for 44 minutes, Venancio Emesto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting de Gijón's supporters crossed their fingers, but Venancio Emesto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bernardo Franco kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. In the 48th minute, Bernardo Franco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nestor Tesone received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Óscar Cordoba came out and tried to block the shot, but Nestor Tesone slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 88th minute. In the 91st minute, Nestor Tesone got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 92 minutes, Saturnino Curcio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting de Gijón and the Alzaga FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 92nd match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Saturnino Curcio to maneuver through the defense.
