In the 23rd minute, Gösta Söderberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Liviu Aldulescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Holger Vester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gigi Neacșu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Liviu Aldulescu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Celedonio Dominguez's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Hammarby IF's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Isaltino Paes in the 35th minute. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Frans Beckenbauer got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. When Celedonio Dominguez fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hammarby IF's protests and gave Celedonio Dominguez a yellow card for diving instead. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Celedonio Dominguez to strike the kick off in the second half.
