Timmy Henriksson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zafer Hürsel having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper Zafer Hürsel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maxim Tsigalko. Zafer Hürsel made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Jens-Ove Blomqvist sent off a good shot on target. In the 17th minute Maxim Tsigalko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zafer Hürsel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vince Di Cola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Snell, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. With a little luck, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Zafer Hürsel got control of the ball when Maxim Tsigalko tried to sneak it across the goal line. Maxim Tsigalko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Zafer Hürsel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute Maxim Tsigalko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zafer Hürsel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vince Di Cola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valentin Ivarsson in the 28th minute of play. Maxim Tsigalko blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zafer Hürsel having to make a save. 30 minutes into the match, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper Zafer Hürsel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maxim Tsigalko. Vince Di Cola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peter Snell in the 34th minute of play. A collision led to FC Zenit Saint Petersburg getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. John Smed hit a great ball. Zafer Hürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maxim Tsigalko, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 40th minute Samurai were awarded a corner. Allan Bivall went to the cornerflag to take it. 47 minutes into the match, Peter Snell notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Samurai's Vince Di Cola. Vince Di Cola was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Maxim Tsigalko was the one to do the kick off. Zafer Hürsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maxim Tsigalko in the 52nd minute of play. 52 minutes into the match, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goal looked a bit too open when Maxim Tsigalko came free, but Zafer Hürsel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vince Di Cola made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Peter Snell sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maxim Tsigalko in the 54th minute of play forced FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper Zafer Hürsel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to FC Zenit Saint Petersburg getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. John Smed hit a great ball. Maxim Tsigalko took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zafer Hürsel. Zafer Hürsel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Vince Di Cola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valentin Ivarsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Maxim Tsigalko scored 4-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zafer Hürsel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Samurai made a substitution. Ian Prutton replaced Hernán Grana. Samurai's Esbjörn Hultstrand was substituted for Timmy Henriksson. Samurai's Wu Qi was substituted for Maxim Tsigalko. In the 69th minute Wu Qi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zafer Hürsel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zafer Hürsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wu Qi in the 72nd minute of play. Zafer Hürsel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Esbjörn Hultstrand, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 79th minute, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's 鲁亮斐 seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed 鲁亮斐 the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of FC Zenit Saint Petersburg protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and 鲁亮斐 had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's 徐默钢 was substituted for Håkan Kjellman. In a very dangerous position, a player in FC Zenit Saint Petersburg fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! Jörgen Ekeroth hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Vince Di Cola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peter Snell in the 88th minute of play. Zafer Hürsel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wu Qi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zafer Hürsel came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by Samurai's Wu Qi. But to his dismay, Wu Qi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-1. Zafer Hürsel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jens-Ove Blomqvist went, in the 99th minute, to the upper right corner, 8-1 was the resulting score. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC Zenit Saint Petersburg players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Samurai.
