Jan Lindström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kevin Keegan in the 37th minute of the match. Krister Uggstedt hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Krister Uggstedt's late challenge caught a Surahammar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Krister Uggstedt helped the player get up and apologised. Kevin Keegan took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jan Lindström. Jan Lindström dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Skövde AIK's Olov Wahlnäs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radamel Oakley in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Hans Petersson hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Surahammar's Jan Lindström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Hamrin in the 82nd minute of play. Victor Santxol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Olov Wahlnäs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgil Van Dijk, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute.
