In the 11th minute Benedicto Naelio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roberto Layton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th match minute, ChAяRuA ϒ KaяβoηEяO ☆ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ambrosio Fiz to maneuver through the defense. Lev Yashin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlo Darrigrande in the 25th minute of play. Roberto Layton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paolo-César Maldini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Argentina's Loco Durazno was substituted for Benedicto Naelio. The supporters of Argentina booed when ChAяRuA ϒ KaяβoηEяO ☆ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliézer Prata didn't get a good kick on the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
