With a left leg Alf Tempel saved Rapid Wien from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Todd Gronow kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alf Tempel. That made the score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. In the 14thth minute of the game Todd Gronow who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Ziemowit Chowaniec got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 29th minute, Todd Gronow reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alf Tempel. The goal made the score 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Rapid Wien's zone, Todd Gronow stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alf Tempel came out of the goal and Todd Gronow tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Abelardo Janpier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Montel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute Fausto Montel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abelardo Janpier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alf Tempel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Todd Gronow in the 36th minute. Alf Tempel was out of position in the 40 minute of play, and Todd Gronow capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Todd Gronow really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. In the 47th minute, Ziemowit Chowaniec hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fausto Montel made a kick off. In the 57th minute, Todd Gronow got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fausto Montel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 66th minute, Todd Gronow ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alf Tempel was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Fabio Manuelo was substituted for Gerardo Etxepare. Rapid Wien made a substitution. Andreas Olejarz replaced Lars Reicher. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Rapid Wien:s goal. In the 78th minute, Rapid Wien got a penalty, and Daniel Hagedorn placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's Mariusz Ratulowski was substituted for Todd Gronow. A sloppy throw-in by Alvaro Tab in the 82nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Rapid Wien's Werner Frach. Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rapid Wien the free kick. In the 93rd minute, Mariusz Ratulowski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alf Tempel was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. There was no doubt that Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC were the better team. Barbieri de Ituzaingó FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
