Rene Vereijt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kamil Momodu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute Bornova were awarded a corner. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dani Rojas got free with Sonny Alén in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kamil Momodu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Rene Vereijt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Abdulla Baia made a kick off. 54 minutes into the game, FC Ouagadougou National's Abdulla Baia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sonny Alén made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Sonny Alén showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jedrzej Kiszkiel in the 57th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Bornova's Rene Vereijt threw himself towards the right post 60 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ahmet Nafiz Özilter, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Bornova's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fernando Dracena in the 61st minute. Fernando Dracena made a great header on Bornova's corner, it was just that FC Ouagadougou National's Rene Vereijt managed to reach the ball for a save. Bornova's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
