Melchor Tebaldo might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Davor Saller. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. When Saul Mateus came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the RIVER PLATE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Saul Mateus couldn't finish the play. Domingos Fortun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Davor Saller having to interfere. Christian Silviano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ashley Bäßler in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saul Mateus in the 43rd minute of play forced Hansa Rostock's goalkeeper Davor Saller to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ashley Bäßler stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Davor Saller took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domingos Fortun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Melchor Tebaldo got free with Davor Saller in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Saul Mateus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Davor Saller tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Hansa Rostock were victorious despite being under pressure from RIVER PLATE for much of the match.
