In the 11th minute Erling Lewandowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Buturugã saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. George Buturugã came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Greece's Erling Lewandowski. But to his dismay, Erling Lewandowski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Mihail Pânzaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erling Lewandowski in the 23rd minute of play forced Moldova's goalkeeper George Buturugã to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. George Buturugã took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erling Lewandowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Erling Lewandowski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but George Buturugã was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Jason Statham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mihail Pânzaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Timos Tsalavoutas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Buturugã having to interfere. George Buturugã showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lionel-Andrés Messi in the 41st minute of the match. Moldova's Iurie Macovei got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 44 minutes, Mihail Pânzaru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Moldova's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mihail Pânzaru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erling Lewandowski was the one to do the kick off. Greece's Alexis Louboutis managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Maxim Scobioalã in the 53 minute of the game. Erling Lewandowski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but George Buturugã made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Moldova's Mihail Pânzaru got a free kick in the 56th minute. Moldova's Ruslan Izmanã was substituted for Mihail Pânzaru. Greece made a substitution. Pipis Karapatakis replaced Erling Lewandowski. Greece's Panos Kontothodoros was substituted for Kleon Liaskovitis. A collision led to Moldova getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Mihail Pânzaru hit a great ball. Pipis Karapatakis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but George Buturugã made a huge save. In the 62ndth minute of the game Ruslan Izmanã who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Greece's Jason Statham was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pipis Karapatakis got free with George Buturugã in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Greece's Grigoris Kitrinidis was substituted for Jason Statham. After a rather tough play, Moldova's Ruslan Izmanã got a free kick in the 65th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Greece's Pipis Karapatakis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that George Buturugã narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Ruslan Izmanã came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Moldova fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ruslan Izmanã couldn't finish the play. Moldova's Emilian Braga was substituted for Emil Gonta. In the 77th minute, Greece's Pipis Karapatakis dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Pipis Karapatakis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but George Buturugã made a huge save. George Buturugã was a little too slow when Pipis Karapatakis got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 1-3. 86 minutes into the match, Pipis Karapatakis notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Moldova's George Buturugã. George Buturugã was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Iurie Macovei kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruslan Izmanã in the 91st minute of play forced Greece's goalkeeper Jason Statham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jason Statham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruslan Izmanã, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. The Greece players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
