The Rot-Weiss-Essen fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when Rot-Weiss-Essen's Ebbo Böse looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ali Atıf Okatay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elmar Assing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ali Atıf Okatay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erkan Fostiropoulos in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Metehan Kuntay made a precise shot to the right of Uwe Ziege. Rot-Weiss-Essen's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Ali Atıf Okatay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ebbo Böse in the 20th minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's goal looked a bit too open when 余政桑 came free, but Uwe Ziege reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hjalmar Blumentritt kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. 余政桑 could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Uwe Ziege made a huge save. 26 minutes into the game, Alp Ergintuğ was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Evcilerspor's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rot-Weiss-Essen the free kick. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Evcilerspor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alp Ergintuğ didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erkan Fostiropoulos's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Ali Atıf Okatay - 2-2 was put on the score board in the 26th minute. In the 29th minute Elmar Assing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ali Atıf Okatay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 32 minutes into the match, Erkan Fostiropoulos notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Evcilerspor's Ali Atıf Okatay. Ali Atıf Okatay was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hürkan Köken kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Metehan Kuntay made a kick off. Ali Atıf Okatay came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Rot-Weiss-Essen's Elmar Assing. But to his dismay, Elmar Assing quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-5. In the 59th minute, Xavi Haberer made a precise shot to the right of Ali Atıf Okatay. Evcilerspor's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-6. Ali Atıf Okatay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xavi Haberer, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. 67 minutes into the game, Ebbo Böse cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-7. Ali Atıf Okatay was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Erkan Fostiropoulos struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Ali Atıf Okatay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rot-Weiss-Essen. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Elmar Assing got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Metehan Kuntay scored 3-7 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Uwe Ziege, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 83 minutes into the match, Evcilerspor's goal looked a bit too open when Ebbo Böse came free, but Ali Atıf Okatay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elmar Assing could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Ali Atıf Okatay made a huge save. In the 87th minute, Elmar Assing left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rot-Weiss-Essen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-8. 91 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Elmar Assing sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ali Atıf Okatay narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ali Atıf Okatay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erkan Fostiropoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elmar Assing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ali Atıf Okatay having to interfere.
