When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Benigno Abreu put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Uwe Ziege. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Florian Hagen got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute, Eustaquio Jaizki made a precise shot to the right of Uwe Ziege. Rot-Weiss-Essen's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After 21 played minutes Club Atlético Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Rojelio. Eustaquio Jaizki's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Uwe Ziege read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Uwe Ziege came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atlético Atlanta's Eustaquio Jaizki. But to his dismay, Eustaquio Jaizki quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. 27 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Erkan Fostiropoulos came free, but Carlos Germano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Uwe Ziege came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atlético Atlanta's Eustaquio Jaizki. But to his dismay, Eustaquio Jaizki quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Uwe Ziege took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paolo Caradaro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eustaquio Jaizki in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Uwe Ziege saved Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting behind. After the first half Club Atlético Atlanta were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eustaquio Jaizki to strike the kick off in the second half. Uwe Ziege was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Eustaquio Jaizki showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-6 in the 52 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Hjalmar Blumentritt got a free kick in the 55th minute. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when Rot-Weiss-Essen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Helmut Malinowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Remigio Erramu struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Uwe Ziege didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético Atlanta. After 65 minutes of play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Erkan Fostiropoulos made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carlos Germano was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Denis Trenker got a free kick in the 68th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Remigio Erramu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético Atlanta's supporters rose to their feet, but Remigio Erramu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Uwe Ziege breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eustaquio Jaizki in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Uwe Ziege, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Eustaquio Jaizki came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Club Atlético Atlanta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eustaquio Jaizki couldn't finish the play. Eustaquio Jaizki in the 76thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Uwe Ziege, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 82 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Florian Hagen came free, but Carlos Germano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Uwe Ziege took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eustaquio Jaizki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Germano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erkan Fostiropoulos in the 84th minute of the match. In the 89th minute Eustaquio Jaizki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uwe Ziege saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Club Atlético Atlanta fans' excitement grew in the 91st match minute when Club Atlético Atlanta's Eustaquio Jaizki looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-7 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Eustaquio Jaizki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With his leg Uwe Ziege managed to avoid a goal in the 96thth minute, when Club Atlético Atlanta's Eustaquio Jaizki fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Club Atlético Atlanta's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
