The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Vassilis Lazarakis struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. When Willian Rosa fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mexilhão F. C.'s protests and gave Willian Rosa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 17th minute, Willian Rosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 18th minute, GREEK ARMY's Süruri Şanalp dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Kasper Elssen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 23rd minute Vassilis Lazarakis collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. Willian Rosa was shown his second yellow card after 23 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Mexilhão F. C.'s Willian Rosa got a free kick in the 25th minute. Jean de Moraes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 28 played minutes GREEK ARMY got a freekick which was hit by Kasper Elssen. João Francisco Mendes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alkis Kalaboukas having to interfere. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Almir Loureiro hit a great ball. 36 minutes into the match, Marios Dermitzoglou notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Mexilhão F. C.'s Luisão Seco. Luisão Seco was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 40th minute, Almir Loureiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Marios Dermitzoglou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute, Süruri Şanalp made a precise shot to the right of Luisão Seco. Mexilhão F. C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Luisão Seco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stamatis Zindros in the 53rd minute of play. João Francisco Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Alkis Kalaboukas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Severino Branco's late challenge caught a GREEK ARMY's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Severino Branco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 59th match minute, Mexilhão F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severino Branco to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Mexilhão F. C. booed when GREEK ARMY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kasper Elssen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 66 minutes, Eliézer Terra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mexilhão F. C. and the GREEK ARMY players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Eliézer Terra hit a great ball. Süruri Şanalp's late challenge caught a Mexilhão F. C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Süruri Şanalp helped the player get up and apologised. After having played for 77 minutes, Thodoris Borbokis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GREEK ARMY's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thodoris Borbokis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Süruri Şanalp kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After 87 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for GREEK ARMY! GREEK ARMY:s Alkis Kalaboukas showed great skill when he stopped Almir Loureiro:s penalty.
