After 8 played minutes, San Lorenzo's Celestino Toro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jason Haber came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in San Lorenzo reached it. If Jean Carl Ciantar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jason Haber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celedonio Cordareo in the 17th minute of play. Jason Haber took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celedonio Cordareo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brian Urpani came free with the goalkeeper in the 20th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Anier Oidor could save by the left post. Floriana Celtics were awarded a corner in the 22th minute after San Lorenzo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Pepe Haedo took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Pepe Haedo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Anier Oidor quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Anier Oidor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Austin Gatt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Celestino Toro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Haber having to interfere. After 35 minutes of play, San Lorenzo's Celestino Toro made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jason Haber was left in no man's land by his defense there! Arnaldo Bide fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Haber having to interfere. Luciano Urki kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, San Lorenzo's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Brian Urpani fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 45 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo's goalkeeper Anier Oidor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Brian Urpani. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 55th minute, Austin Gatt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 58 played minutes Floriana Celtics got a freekick which was hit by Daniele Boffa. Floriana Celtics's Jason Haber proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Floriana Celtics from getting a goal against them. After 63 minutes, Gervasio Tartalo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the San Lorenzo and the Floriana Celtics players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to San Lorenzo getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Gervasio Tartalo hit a great ball. After 64 minutes, Leo Fix mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the San Lorenzo and the Floriana Celtics players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 64th minute of the game. One of San Lorenzo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Floriana Celtics:s goal. San Lorenzo:s Anier Oidor showed great skill when he stopped Brian Urpani:s penalty. After 73 minutes, Celestino Toro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the San Lorenzo and the Floriana Celtics players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 74th minute Malcolm Hili shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anier Oidor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Floriana Celtics's Malcolm Hili got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pepe Haedo during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 2-2 became the score in the 87th minute when Brian Urpani elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Anier Oidor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Malcolm Hili in the 94th minute of the match. In the 95th match minute, Floriana Celtics was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Terribile to maneuver through the defense. Jason Haber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celestino Toro, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
