The Hacha y Tiza FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erubiel Osoro should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Angel Di Maria in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Erubiel Osoro saved Hacha y Tiza FC from getting behind. Angel Di Maria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Erubiel Osoro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 15 minutes in the game, Angel Di Maria dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Fernando Peruxu hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Angel Di Maria put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Erubiel Osoro. The audience was convinced that Fernando Peruxu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fausto George was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. In the 29th minute Angel Di Maria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erubiel Osoro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sporting de Gijón's Angel Di Maria got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Hacha y Tiza FC's Fausto George threw himself towards the right post 36 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fernando Peruxu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Norberto Iliana kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bonifacio Oliverio during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 41st minute, Bonifacio Oliverio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Angel Di Maria to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 64thth minute of the game Clemente Bihar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting de Gijón's Fausto George was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 66 minutes, Timoteo Eguntsenti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting de Gijón and the Hacha y Tiza FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 66 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Timoteo Eguntsenti. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Angelo Bertin replaced Benigno Eriz. Timoteo Eguntsenti kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Peruxu came free, but Fausto George reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Angel Di Maria got free with Erubiel Osoro in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fabricio Xabel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Angel Di Maria in the 86thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Erubiel Osoro, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mauro Perez during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mauro Perez hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Erubiel Osoro was a little too slow when Angel Di Maria got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 1-3. The Hacha y Tiza FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Sporting de Gijón's performance. The match ended with a win for Sporting de Gijón.
