Sporting de Gijón's Fausto George proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting de Gijón from getting a goal against them. Peter Oldenborger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Angel Di Maria's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. If Jimmie Cai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the match, MK Investments's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Perez came free, but Peter Oldenborger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domenik Hoffhuis in the 26th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Fausto George to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Domenik Hoffhuis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto George saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute MK Investments were awarded a corner. Michal Pazdan went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Dennis Wegman got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Fausto George quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Peter Oldenborger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benigno Eriz in the 32nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Angel Di Maria in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Peter Oldenborger prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fausto George took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pascal Bults, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Domenik Hoffhuis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto George having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Waclaw Poremba could shoot a difficult shot in the 41st minute, which Fausto George however easily saved by the left post. MK Investments's Waclaw Poremba was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 45th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The MK Investments players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sporting de Gijón were winning 1-2.

MK Investments were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Sporting de Gijón's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Michal Pazdan took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Sporting de Gijón's goalie and right to Dennis Wegman. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Sporting de Gijón's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 57 minutes into the match, MK Investments's Dennis Wegman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fausto George narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fausto George made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waclaw Poremba in the 60th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilfredo Etxahun got free with Peter Oldenborger in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benigno Eriz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Peter Oldenborger made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Waclaw Poremba in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fausto George saved Sporting de Gijón from getting behind. Sporting de Gijón's Omar Etor was substituted for Bonifacio Oliverio. MK Investments's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Michal Pazdan in the 73rd minute. A well done corner resulted in Dennis Wegman drilling the ball in to score 2-2 behind Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper. Domenik Hoffhuis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Domenik Hoffhuis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fausto George was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Domenik Hoffhuis put it in 3-2 from a short distance just to the right of Fausto George. When Michal Pazdan fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MK Investments's protests and gave Michal Pazdan a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in MK Investments fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 80th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Sporting de Gijón a penalty, 82 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Mauro Perez, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of MK Investments's Peter Oldenborger. 3-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Perez in the 85th minute of play forced MK Investments's goalkeeper Peter Oldenborger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute, Omar Etor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fausto George didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pascal Bults went, in the 98th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-3 was the resulting score. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sporting de Gijón players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for MK Investments.
