When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Gualterio Morera put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Otmar Elsner. Bertran Lizundia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Otmar Elsner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gelsenkirchener jungs's Otmar Elsner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bertran Lizundia in the 30th minute of play. Ted Habbel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Lennart Pleschke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ted Habbel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garcia Ribero having to interfere. Gelsenkirchener jungs's Otmar Elsner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bertran Lizundia in the 48th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lennart Pleschke to make the kick off. Ted Habbel hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Beila Purrigimon during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Otmar Elsner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gualterio Morera in the 62nd minute of play. In the 64th minute, Eloy Damar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 65 minutes, Ted Habbel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gelsenkirchener jungs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ted Habbel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Beila Purrigimon hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Ted Habbel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gelsenkirchener jungs's supporters rose to their feet, but Ted Habbel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Garcia Ribero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gualterio Morera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th match minute, Ariguapa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bertran Lizundia to maneuver through the defense. In the 80th minute Ted Habbel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garcia Ribero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 80 minutes, Sebastiano Taran mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ariguapa and the Gelsenkirchener jungs players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ariguapa's Sebastiano Taran got a free kick in the 80th minute. Ted Habbel might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Garcia Ribero. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ted Habbel ran back to his position shaking his head. Beila Purrigimon got his second yellow card in the match during the 83rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 83rd minute, Beila Purrigimon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Garcia Ribero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lennart Pleschke in the 90th minute of play. Bertran Lizundia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Bertran Lizundias short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Otmar Elsner to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ariguapa players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Gelsenkirchener jungs.
