Benedicto Naelio received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Roberto Layton came out and tried to block the shot, but Benedicto Naelio slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 36th minute. Carlo Darrigrande might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lev Yashin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlo Darrigrande ran back to his position shaking his head. Lev Yashin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlo Darrigrande, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Argentina's Lev Yashin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlo Darrigrande in the 43rd minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benedicto Naelio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Benedicto Naelio scored 3-0 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roberto Layton, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Paolo-César Maldini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 played minutes Carlo Darrigrande rounded Argentina's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-1. Lev Yashin made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Jamar Eldridge sent off a good shot on target. When the match clock showed 94 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Jamar Eldridge sped through Argentina's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lev Yashin. Argentina's Loco Durazno was substituted for Benedicto Naelio. Argentina's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
