In the 16th minute, Mats Nyström made a precise shot to the right of Mariusz Komornicki. CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Basajaun in the 20th minute of play forced Golden Lions FC's goalkeeper Anders Lundqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. CAMPINAS FUTEBOL CLUBE's Acácio da Cunha managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Arne Tönnberg in the 24 minute of the game. Arnaldo Basajaun recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anders Lundqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Basajaun, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Mats Nyström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Mariusz Komornicki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Golden Lions FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnaldo Basajaun stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 80 minutes, Mariusz Komornicki successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anders Lundqvist prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Golden Lions FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Armağan Yörük ran over to the corner to take the kick. The Golden Lions FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Golden Lions FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
