After 14 minutes of play, Botafogo MZRJ's Gilvan Falcão made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. With his leg Férid Khalifa managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when São Paulo F.C.'s Yaya Sow fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gilvan Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Tiago Godoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jailson Capixaba in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tiago Godoi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Jailson Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jailson Capixaba in the 90th minute of play forced São Paulo F.C.'s goalkeeper Tiago Godoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Yaya Sow fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Férid Khalifa having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Amílton Alagoano in the 96th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Botafogo MZRJ's Léo Baptista. The Botafogo MZRJ supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Botafogo MZRJ would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
