Theo Hayles hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Reynaldo Stephen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Chien-Kwan in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Oliviero in the 27th minute of play forced Club Sportivo Italiano's goalkeeper Reynaldo Stephen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Augusto Oliviero might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Reynaldo Stephen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Augusto Oliviero ran back to his position shaking his head. Reynaldo Stephen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augusto Oliviero in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute Lanús were awarded a corner. Jake Hursey went to the cornerflag to take it. Lanús's Jake Hursey was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Reynaldo Stephen in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 40th minute, Evelio Pes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Sportivo Italiano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After some careless play in the Club Sportivo Italiano defense, Augusto Oliviero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reynaldo Stephen. The Club Sportivo Italiano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reynaldo Stephen should have stopped the shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Oliviero couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd match minute, Club Sportivo Italiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armando Urbes to maneuver through the defense. For all the effort they put into the match, the Club Sportivo Italiano players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Lanús.
