Ruben Reyes was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 35th minute Rigoberto Bastiaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Orlando Chepe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mario Alberto Millar struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Ivar Bjurström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hydra. In the 40th minute, Rigoberto Bastiaro made a precise shot to the right of Orlando Chepe. Hydra's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Leopoldo Ladio put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ivar Bjurström.

The wind increased when Rigoberto Bastiaro made the kick off in the second half.
