The Toronto FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Toronto FC's zone, 尹翀翔 stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Papillion Cheek came out of the goal and 尹翀翔 tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Marambaia FC booed when Toronto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lenny Berger didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Abraham Mejia made a kick off. Marambaia FC's Narciso Capixaba got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hyman Buckner kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 53rd minute, Romeu Penha sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Toronto FC's Papillion Cheek didn't even have to move. Evandro Domingues's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Papillion Cheek read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. When Evandro Domingues came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Marambaia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evandro Domingues couldn't finish the play. Evandro Domingues might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Papillion Cheek. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Evandro Domingues ran back to his position shaking his head. 67 minutes into the match, Toronto FC's goal looked a bit too open when Evandro Domingues came free, but Papillion Cheek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Laércio Branco made a precise shot to the right of Papillion Cheek. Toronto FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. 76 minutes into the match, Toronto FC's goal looked a bit too open when Evandro Domingues came free, but Papillion Cheek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Toronto FC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Kyle Souplet hit a great ball. Papillion Cheek came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Marambaia FC's Evandro Domingues. But to his dismay, Evandro Domingues quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After 83 minutes, João Vítor Godoi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Marambaia FC and the Toronto FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Toronto FC fans' excitement grew in the 84th match minute when Toronto FC's Hervé Watson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Marambaia FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Toronto FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
