Northern California's Domingos Savier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giuseppe Meazza in the 19th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juan Luis Dittborn in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Domingos Savier prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 21 played minutes Northern California got a freekick which was hit by 张阳强. Inter de Chillán's Arnaldo Detmer got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Domingos Savier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giuseppe Meazza in the 25th minute of play. Domingos Savier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Inter de Chillán's goalkeeper José Ignacio Rocha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 36th minute Gustavo Isazi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Ignacio Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Juan Luis Dittborn made a kick off. José Ignacio Rocha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pablo Henrico went, in the 50th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. With an all-out effort, Inter de Chillán's Domingos Savier threw himself towards the right post 53 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Giuseppe Meazza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Aurelio Berdoi came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Northern California fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aurelio Berdoi couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Northern California's Domingos Savier got control of the ball when Jorge Valdivia tried to sneak it across the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, Inter de Chillán's goal looked a bit too open when Pablo Henrico came free, but José Ignacio Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aurelio Berdoi made a great header on Northern California's corner, it was just that Inter de Chillán's José Ignacio Rocha managed to reach the ball for a save. After 91 played minutes Northern California got a freekick which was hit by Uluç Tezcan. Javier Casas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Domingos Savier read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Northern California's defense didn't have a chance, in the 95th minute, when Javier Casas scored to the left of an out of position Domingos Savier, making the score, 1-4. The Inter de Chillán supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Inter de Chillán would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
