Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ted Lasso in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iwan Grocholski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ján Oblak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robby Woody in the 29th minute of the match. If Borys Kolba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the match, La Academia's goal looked a bit too open when Grzegorz Motowski came free, but Iwan Grocholski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44th minute, Francisco Alberto Zañartu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ted Lasso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Iwan Grocholski made a huge save.

The wind increased when Robby Woody made the kick off in the second half. The referee felt a red card was in order, 52 minutes into the game, when Roberto Ayala put in a rough tackle. Wittbach SSA's Grzegorz Motowski got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Robby Woody in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ján Oblak, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Wittbach SSA booed when La Academia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Alberto Zañartu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eric Sillén fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ján Oblak having to interfere. Ján Oblak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Sillén in the 94th minute of play. La Academia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Maxín Bacarreza in the 95th minute. La Academia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
