Palestra do Interior's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hugo Ceandro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Consejo del Mate's Arnaldo Librado suffered a sprained foot after 32 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Consejo del Mate's Hermengildo Derwin was substituted for Arnaldo Librado. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hermengildo Derwin was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match Hugo Ceandro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante skillfully saved the ball. Bernardo Inautzi was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Serafim Simão showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 58 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Serafim Simão got free with Bernardo Inautzi in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
