An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrinho do Valle in the 5th minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Eduardo Arce hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Rondinone F.C - FDFDF's Samuca Bezerra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Rondinone F.C - FDFDF from getting a goal against them. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Eduardo Arce in the 13th minute of play. If Dorival Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when Rondinone F.C - FDFDF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermínio Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adriano Secco kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Eduardo Arce in the 24th minute of the match. Adriano Secco charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adriano Secco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th minute, Adriano Secco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kléberson de Amaral in the 45th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Eduardo Arce was the one to do the kick off. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante was a little too slow when Pedrinho do Valle got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 51st minute. The score was now 0-1. Palestra do Interior were furious when Ulysses Neto was red carded, 62 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 65th match minute, Rondinone F.C - FDFDF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hermínio Maciel to maneuver through the defense. Kléberson de Amaral charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kléberson de Amaral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 67 played minutes Rondinone F.C - FDFDF got a freekick which was hit by Kléberson de Amaral. 69 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Eduardo Arce came free, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Palestra do Interior's Sandy Ogrocki got a free kick in the 70th minute. Samuca Bezerra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jhon Barcellos in the 76th minute of play. Samuca Bezerra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serafim Simão, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Faria in the 96th minute of play. The Rondinone F.C - FDFDF supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rondinone F.C - FDFDF would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
