Guo Ke Peng was slow to take the kick. During this time Vancouver Reds's players had a chance to rest. Virgil Şimonca kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Guo Ke Peng received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Aurelian Coporan came out and tried to block the shot, but Guo Ke Peng slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 7th minute. Nicolás Castillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aurelian Coporan having to interfere. Omar Duardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Radu Păvăloae in the 13th minute of play. In the 14th minute Academia Rio were awarded a corner. Dumitru Pantelimon went to the cornerflag to take it. If Nicolás Castillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an all-out effort, Vancouver Reds's Aurelian Coporan threw himself towards the right post 18 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sima Marinković, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 19 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goal looked a bit too open when Virgil Şimonca came free, but Omar Duardo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute Virgil Şimonca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Omar Duardo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Omar Duardo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergiu Coșeriu in the 24th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's Macnelly Torres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aurelian Coporan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pang Jun hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Aurelian Coporan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sima Marinković's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. After 53 minutes Academia Rio's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Guo Ke Peng who took care of the corner kick. Aurelian Coporan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sima Marinković, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Virgil Şimonca's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Omar Duardo firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 59th minute Sima Marinković shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelian Coporan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aurelian Coporan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sima Marinković in the 65th minute of play. Joan Carrasco kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Vancouver Reds made a substitution. Billy Oja replaced Sima Marinković. The supporters of Academia Rio booed when Vancouver Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joan Carrasco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Omar Duardo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aron Suşu in the 74th minute. The throw-in from Love Svensson in the 77th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Academia Rio's Valeriu Ilinca. Aurelian Coporan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Macnelly Torres in the 83rd minute of the match.
