Eric Vennerkvist hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Iosif Mitu could shoot a difficult shot in the 36th minute, which Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson however easily saved by the left post. Ivar Fernström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 41st minute, Steaua București's Iosif Mitu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson. Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Toader Ipătescu's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. When Niklas Isaksson fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sportklubben's protests and gave Niklas Isaksson a yellow card for diving instead.
