After 9 played minutes, Steaua București's Toader Ipătescu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Steaua București reached it. Niklas Isaksson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Manole Mocanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ivar Fernström came free with the goalkeeper in the 14th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Manole Mocanu could save by the left post. In the 14th minute, Toader Ipătescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eric Vennerkvist hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Steaua București's Horia Ionaș got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 22nd minute, Toader Ipătescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Steaua București's Toader Ipătescu in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sportklubben's goalie prevented a goal. Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horia Ionaș in the 28th minute of play. Manole Mocanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niklas Isaksson in the 33rd minute of the match. With a little luck, Steaua București's Manole Mocanu got control of the ball when Ivar Fernström tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Ivar Fernström could shoot a difficult shot in the 38th minute, which Manole Mocanu however easily saved by the left post. After 39 played minutes Sportklubben got a freekick which was hit by Reine Gernberg. When Iosif Mitu came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Steaua București fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iosif Mitu couldn't finish the play. Steaua București's Toader Ipătescu got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Sportklubben defense, Horia Ionaș kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson. The Sportklubben fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson should have stopped the shot.

The wind increased when Horia Ionaș made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Sportklubben got a freekick which was hit by Ian Tingelholm. Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Iosif Mitu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Iosif Mitu really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. In the 57th minute Ivar Fernström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manole Mocanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when Steaua București's Iosif Mitu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Toader Ipătescu's late challenge caught a Sportklubben's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toader Ipătescu helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivar Fernström in the 62nd minute of play forced Steaua București's goalkeeper Manole Mocanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toader Ipătescu in the 65th minute of the match. A collision led to Sportklubben getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Henrik Bank hit a great ball. Horia Ionaș struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steaua București. Manole Mocanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivar Fernström in the 69th minute of play. Eric Vennerkvist got his second yellow card in the match during the 70th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 71st minute, Horia Ionaș made a precise shot to the right of Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson. Sportklubben's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Iosif Mitu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horia Ionaș fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iordache Arnăutu in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson saved Sportklubben from getting behind. In the 83rd minute Iordache Arnăutu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Steaua București's Iordache Arnăutu got a free kick in the 86th minute. After 90 minutes, Horia Ionaș made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. Sportklubben's Bengt-Rune Gunnarsson tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Iordache Arnăutu during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Steaua București getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Iordache Arnăutu hit a great ball. Horia Ionaș sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
