Eduard Nițoi charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eduard Nițoi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 3rd match minute, Steaua București was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduard Nițoi to maneuver through the defense. In the 6th minute Þorgarður Arnljótsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manole Mocanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Steaua București getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Dinu Mincu hit a great ball. Manole Mocanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geir Mánason in the 11th minute of the match. In the 16th minute Jörvi Daðason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manole Mocanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Þorgarður Arnljótsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Þorlákur Marvinsson in the 22nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Steaua București's Horia Ionaș. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Elverk Vogum's goalkeeper Daríus Sigmundarson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Geir Mánason took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manole Mocanu. Manole Mocanu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 32 minutes into the game, Þorgarður Arnljótsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Manole Mocanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Iosif Mitu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Daríus Sigmundarson made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jörvi Daðason in the 38th minute of play forced Steaua București's goalkeeper Manole Mocanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manole Mocanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Þorgarður Arnljótsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Þorgarður Arnljótsson scored 0-4 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manole Mocanu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 45th minute, Iosif Mitu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manole Mocanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Þorgarður Arnljótsson in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Elverk Vogum were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 52nd minute Iosif Mitu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daríus Sigmundarson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manole Mocanu made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Geir Mánason sent off a good shot on target. Sebastian Caragea kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Steaua București's Manole Mocanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Þorgarður Arnljótsson in the 64th minute of play. In the 64th minute, Iordache Arnăutu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Þorgarður Arnljótsson took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Manole Mocanu to make any attempt to save it. Geir Mánason came free with the goalkeeper in the 74th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Manole Mocanu could save by the left post. Þorgarður Arnljótsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manole Mocanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Þorgarður Arnljótsson ran back to his position shaking his head. Steaua București's Manole Mocanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Þorgarður Arnljótsson in the 79th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Steaua București's Cezar Ponor got a free kick in the 85th minute. Gottskálk Þengilsson hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Elverk Vogum walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
