Gianluca Buffon came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Defensores del Ángel Gris's Alfonso Gilabert. But to his dismay, Alfonso Gilabert quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Defensores de Lombroso's Gianluca Buffon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfonso Gilabert in the 34th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Defensores del Ángel Gris's Alfonso Gilabert sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gianluca Buffon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gianluca Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernard Ochabski in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th minute Defensores del Ángel Gris were awarded a corner. Eleuterio Chabier went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 41st minute, Leo Unzaga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Defensores del Ángel Gris's attentive Leopoldo Aimar managed to snatch the ball when Agustin Fidencio made a throw-in in the 44th minute of the game. Defensores del Ángel Gris's Uriel Chorche proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Defensores del Ángel Gris from getting a goal against them. If Bruno Sauveur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Defensores de Lombroso's Valentín Barco was substituted for Federico Pirro. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Uriel Ferrer got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-1. 71 minutes into the match.
