Philippines were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Juventud Antoniana's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aðalsteinn Esbjærg took the corner. Celso Demario was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Mats Caballero showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 42 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trayan Davchev in the 80th minute of play forced Philippines's goalkeeper Armand Quison to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Juventud Antoniana defense, Aðalsteinn Esbjærg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Celso Demario. The Juventud Antoniana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Celso Demario should have stopped the shot. Juventud Antoniana's Remigio Bela was substituted for Trayan Davchev.
