The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of BOTAFOGO booed when Laranja EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Roberto Meira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Gavril Bucur managed to get in a good position for a shot. BOTAFOGO's supporters rose to their feet, but Gavril Bucur was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romário Dantas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gavril Bucur might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romário Dantas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gavril Bucur ran back to his position shaking his head. Gavril Bucur received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Romário Dantas came out and tried to block the shot, but Gavril Bucur slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 6th minute. Thiago Ramalho's late challenge caught a Laranja EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thiago Ramalho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 9th minute, one of BOTAFOGO:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for BOTAFOGO. The BOTAFOGO fans' excitement grew in the 15th match minute when BOTAFOGO's Gavril Bucur looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Édouard Deloge had several of the Laranja EC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 17 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 3-1 score and a disappointed Romário Dantas as he didn't even see the shot coming. Édouard Deloge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Romário Dantas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A hard shot 27 in the game by Gavril Bucur from a close distance when the talented Romário Dantas managed to make a qualified save. Laranja EC's players were relieved. After 34th play minutes Gavril Bucur shot 5-1, a short shot which went by Romário Dantas and just under the crossbar into goal. After 36 minutes, Gavril Bucur made it 6-1 with a short kick to the right side. Laranja EC's Romário Dantas tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Romário Dantas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Édouard Deloge, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gavril Bucur to strike the kick off in the second half. Édouard Deloge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romário Dantas having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Édouard Deloge in the 56th minute of play forced Laranja EC's goalkeeper Romário Dantas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Laranja EC defense, Gavril Bucur kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Romário Dantas. The Laranja EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Romário Dantas should have stopped the shot. Laranja EC's Zé Roberto Meira got his second yellow card of the match in the 68th minute. When the match clock showed 82 minutes, the score became 11-1 when Gavril Bucur sped through Laranja EC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Romário Dantas. Édouard Deloge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Romário Dantas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Armandinho Pernambucano's late challenge caught a BOTAFOGO's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 90th minute, Sidney Esteves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Gavril Bucur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cafu do Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cafu do Nascimento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cafu do Nascimento kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. When the referee ended the match the BOTAFOGO players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
