Romário Dantas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 11 minutes into the match, Laranja EC's goal looked a bit too open when Hortêncio Montenegro came free, but Romário Dantas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Antônio Aguiar in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Romário Dantas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Gilson Prestes fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inazuma Japan's protests and gave Gilson Prestes a yellow card for diving instead. The audience was convinced that Antônio Aguiar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Romário Dantas was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Antônio Aguiar who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Romário Dantas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Zé Roberto Meira fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Laranja EC's protests and gave Zé Roberto Meira a yellow card for diving instead. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Antônio Aguiar to strike the kick off in the second half. Cafu do Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
