In the 27th minute of the match Batalhão do Peçanha got a corner. Inazuma Japan's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vânderson Vasconcelos ran over to the corner to take the kick. Epaminondas Baba could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Zé Vieira made a huge save. With a little luck, Inazuma Japan's Zé Vieira got control of the ball when Epaminondas Baba tried to sneak it across the goal line. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Antônio Aguiar to make the kick off. Ma Kuan Yun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Batalhão do Peçanha's Petr Čech got control of the ball when Adilson Ramalho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Inazuma Japan's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
