In the 23rd minute Cristobal Lia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Johan Ahlqvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nestor Cortez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaufred Betanzos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Davor Šuker in the 76th minute of play forced Lobos de Carelia's goalkeeper Nestor Cortez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But to his dismay, Davor Šuker quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Lobos de Carelia's Pavao Zadro was substituted for Cristobal Lia. Gaufred Betanzos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eusebio Rios, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. The supporters of Black Rose 1979 booed when Lobos de Carelia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Jimenez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 94 minutes, Karl-Johan Ahlqvist successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Black Rose 1979's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
