Filiberto Xabier scored 0-1 in the 3rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pieter-Jan Goethuys, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Anibal Soin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pieter-Jan Goethuys having to make a save. 7 minutes into the match, River FC's goalkeeper Rolando Erauso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Binjamin Libesoons. Thanks to some nice moves Pino Colebinders could shoot a difficult shot in the 14th minute, which Rolando Erauso however easily saved by the left post. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 16th minute of the game. One of AFC Hoogdonk:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of River FC:s goal. The referee gave River FC a penalty, 18 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cipriano Ekhi, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of AFC Hoogdonk's Pieter-Jan Goethuys. 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anibal Soin in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pieter-Jan Goethuys saved AFC Hoogdonk from getting behind. Rolando Erauso was out of position in the 22 minute of play, and Elias Vissenaekers capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Elias Vissenaekers really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. In the 26th minute, Emanuel Isidor got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind AFC Hoogdonk's goalkeeper Pieter-Jan Goethuys, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pieter-Jan Goethuys took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anibal Soin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, AFC Hoogdonk's goal looked a bit too open when Artemio Marz came free, but Pieter-Jan Goethuys reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pieter-Jan Goethuys showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filiberto Xabier in the 46th minute of the match. Binjamin Libesoons fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Erauso having to interfere.

The wind increased when Elias Vissenaekers made the kick off in the second half. Pino Colebinders's late challenge caught a River FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pino Colebinders helped the player get up and apologised. Pieter-Jan Goethuys was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Artemio Marz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 54 minute of play. Filiberto Xabier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. River FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AFC Hoogdonk the free kick. Cipriano Ekhi hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Rolando Erauso came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by AFC Hoogdonk's Binjamin Libesoons. But to his dismay, Binjamin Libesoons quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. Pieter-Jan Goethuys made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Filiberto Xabier sent off a good shot on target. Elias Vissenaekers took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rolando Erauso. Rolando Erauso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-4. Artemio Marz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the match, River FC's Emanuel Isidor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pieter-Jan Goethuys narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Anibal Soin took a quick shot and it went in 3-5 without a chance for Pieter-Jan Goethuys to make any attempt to save it. In the 92nd minute Louis Slabbaert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Erauso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. River FC played a much better game than AFC Hoogdonk and deserved their victory. The AFC Hoogdonk players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
