Dušan Ančic tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicolás Valentini in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dušan Ančic saved Club Atlético de Newell from getting behind. After a rather tough play, La Candela FC's Roberto Rogel got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 13th match minute, La Candela FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walter Samuel to maneuver through the defense. If Hugo Alexandersen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicolás Valentini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dušan Ančic made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolás Valentini in the 18th minute of play. La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save La Candela FC from getting a goal against them. If Nicolás Valentini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolás Valentini in the 21st minute of play. Nicolás Valentini might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dušan Ančic. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicolás Valentini ran back to his position shaking his head. Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolás Valentini in the 26th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicolás Valentini in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dušan Ančic prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 31st match minute, Club Atlético de Newell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Spike Foley to maneuver through the defense. 32 minutes into the game, La Candela FC's Nicolás Valentini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dušan Ančic made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. A collision led to Club Atlético de Newell getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Hugo Alexandersen hit a great ball. When La Candela FC's Nicolás Valentini in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The supporters of La Candela FC booed when Club Atlético de Newell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vince Haywood didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dušan Ančic acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 54th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Sebastián Battaglia. 55 minutes into the match, La Candela FC's goal looked a bit too open when Spike Foley came free, but Ruben Sánchez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético de Newell's zone, Nicolás Valentini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dušan Ančic came out of the goal and Nicolás Valentini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dušan Ančic showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolás Valentini, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Sebastián Battaglia notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic. Dušan Ančic was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dušan Ančic made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Roberto Rogel sent off a good shot on target. Dušan Ančic showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Medero, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolás Valentini couldn't finish the play. With his leg Dušan Ančic managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when La Candela FC's Nicolás Valentini fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The crowd rose to their feet as La Candela FC's Nicolás Valentini slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dušan Ančic. That made the score 0-6 after 95 minutes of play. La Candela FC played a much better game than Club Atlético de Newell and deserved their victory. The Club Atlético de Newell players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
