The audience thought a goal was coming when Guido Vissenaeken got free with Artur Bînciu in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 21st minute, Arie Schenkhuizen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in SarıKırmızı F.Akademisi's zone, Ümit Karan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artur Bînciu came out of the goal and Ümit Karan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Guido Vissenaeken took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Artur Bînciu to make any attempt to save it. Brugge United's Vítor Baia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by İstemihan Bekdemir in the 30th minute of play. Hüseyin Turan Uraz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnauld Van Impe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Artur Bînciu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play.
