Kenya's Maximiliano Eliazar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ümit Karan in the 73rd minute of play. When Doru Trăilă fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kenya's protests and gave Doru Trăilă a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th minute, Arnauld Van Impe made a precise shot to the right of Maximiliano Eliazar. Kenya's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Brugge United had won after a very even match.
