If Lesardo Alavedra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauricio Precioso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lesardo Alavedra in the 9th minute of play. Evander Zabel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dong Zhou Chen, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Amador Urbasa hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Club Puerto Quito's defense didn't have a chance, in the 20th minute, when Lesardo Alavedra scored to the left of an out of position Mauricio Precioso, making the score, 1-0. Evander Zabel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dong Zhou Chen in the 23rd minute of play. Sergi Gómez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lesardo Alavedra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Mauricio Precioso made a huge save. A collision led to Deportivo Alavés getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Generoso Estrada hit a great ball. 34 minutes into the match, Deportivo Alavés's goal looked a bit too open when Dong Zhou Chen came free, but Evander Zabel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Lesardo Alavedra came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Deportivo Alavés fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lesardo Alavedra couldn't finish the play. Lesardo Alavedra did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Mauricio Precioso 40 minutes into the match. In the 43rd match minute, Club Puerto Quito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dong Zhou Chen to maneuver through the defense. Mauricio Precioso was out of position in the 44 minute of play, and Lesardo Alavedra capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lesardo Alavedra really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dong Zhou Chen to make the kick off. Evander Zabel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ayoví Costoya in the 51st minute of play. Mauricio Precioso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lesardo Alavedra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Club Puerto Quito's Mauricio Precioso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Javi Moreno in the 54th minute of play. When Deportivo Alavés's Javi Moreno in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Club Puerto Quito's goalie prevented a goal. Mauricio Precioso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lesardo Alavedra in the 56th minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Sergi Gómez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mauricio Precioso was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Puerto Quito's goalkeeper Mauricio Precioso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Evander Zabel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dong Zhou Chen in the 65th minute. 70 minutes into the match, Deportivo Alavés's Lesardo Alavedra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mauricio Precioso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Puerto Quito's goalkeeper Mauricio Precioso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Deportivo Alavés made a substitution. Alanzo Verdeja replaced Sergi Gómez. Dong Zhou Chen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 83rd minute Javi Moreno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauricio Precioso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Deportivo Alavés's Evander Zabel got control of the ball when Enzo Gallardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lesardo Alavedra in the 91st minute of play forced Club Puerto Quito's goalkeeper Mauricio Precioso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mauricio Precioso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Javi Moreno in the 93rd minute of play. After 95 minutes Club Puerto Quito's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Andrés Iniesta who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to Deportivo Alavés's Javi Moreno getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Club Puerto Quito players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Deportivo Alavés.
